Biography

Huaiyin Li is a Professor of History in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his PhD from UCLA in 2000. His research interests include Modern Chinese history, the contemporary Chinese economy, society, and politics, as well as imperial China, gender, family, agrarian studies, Chinese culture, religions, and comparative studies of development and globalization. He has authored several books, including 'Village Governance North China, 1875-1936', published by Stanford University Press in 2005; 'Village China Socialism Reform: Micro-History, 1948-2008', which won the 2009 Cecil B. Currey Book Award; and 'Master Bondage: Factory Workers China, 1949-2019', among others. His commitment to advancing historical studies related to China underscores his expertise and contributions to the field.
