Biography

Huaxiong Huang is a Full Professor at York University in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Fudan University and his PhD from the Institute of Applied Mathematics at the University of British Columbia. With an international reputation in applied mathematics, he specializes in a wide range of topics including fluid mechanics, scientific computing, and applications in finance, biology, and medicine. He has published over 100 papers and serves on the editorial boards of various academic journals. Notably, he is a three-time Erskine Visiting Fellow at the University of Canterbury and has held the position of JSPS Visiting Fellow at the University of Tokyo, as well as being a visiting professor at the University of Paris VI. He has received the Canadian Industrial Applied Mathematics Society-Fields Institute Industrial Mathematics Prize and is a lifetime fellow of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, where he also served as Deputy Director from 2016 to 2019.
