Biography

Au Yong is a corporate finance scholar who researches contentious issues surrounding corporate governance, capital management, and risk management. His research examines both internal and external corporate governance, focusing on management’s incentives and corporate investment decisions. He studies the importance of gender diversity on corporate boards, contributing to the understanding of how critical mass of women on boards can reduce earnings management due to superior monitoring roles. His article was awarded the E. Yetton Prize in 2017 and he has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals. Au Yong has won competitive research grants from the Australian Research Council and the Accounting Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand. He specializes in teaching corporate finance and financial markets at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, receiving recognition for teaching excellence in 2020. Additionally, he has served as the Department PhD Program Director and is an active reviewer for international journals.
