Dr. Hugh Collins

Biography

Hugh Collins is the Cassel Professor of Commercial Law at the London School of Economics, where he has been a faculty member since 1991. He has held prominent positions, including the Vinerian Professor of English Law at St. John's College, Oxford, from 2014 to 2019. Collins has dedicated his career to the exploration of contract law, employment law, European law, and legal theory, contributing significantly to the academic community with numerous publications. His notable works include 'Justice Dismissal' and 'Marxism Law', with recent publications focusing on the intersection of human rights and employment law. A Fellow of the British Academy, he has served on editorial committees for several prestigious legal journals. Collins studied law at both Oxford and Harvard, and is recognized for his contributions to understanding the complexities of labor law and contractual relationships within a modern context. His research interests are vast, encompassing labor law, human rights, contract law, and legal theory.
