Biography

Hugh Crawford is an Associate Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication. He received his Ph.D. in American Literature from Duke University and has been part of the Georgia Tech faculty since 1996. His research specializes in cultural studies of science and technology, focusing on the intersections between literature and medicine, cinema and science, and medical imaging technologies. Crawford has published works relating to Herman Melville and William Carlos Williams. He has served as past president of the Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts and is an editor for the journal 'Configurations: Journal of Science, Technology, and Culture,' published by Johns Hopkins University Press. His academic contributions have earned him several accolades, including the Georgia Tech ANAK Society Professor of the Year award in 2012 and the Georgia Board of Regents’ Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2011.
