Professor Hugo Bronstein, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1980, grew up in London, UK. He studied Chemistry at Oxford University and completed his PhD at Imperial College under the supervision of Professor Charlotte Williams. After spending a year at the University of Washington in Seattle as a postdoctoral researcher for Professor Christine Luscombe, he returned to Imperial College for another postdoctoral position with Professor Iain McCulloch. In 2015, he received an ERC starting grant, and in 2017 he was appointed lecturer jointly in the Physics and Chemistry Departments at the University of Cambridge, where he was awarded an EPSRC fellowship in 2019 and promoted to Professor (Grade 12) in 2022. His research group focuses on the synthesis of novel conjugated materials for applications in organic solar cells, light-emitting diodes, and transistors, with a particular interest in using triplet excited states. The group aims to develop a true understanding of the fundamental properties of conjugated materials to advance relevant applications, especially in clean energy generation and storage.
