Dr. Hugo Caviola

Biography

Hugo Caviola is an Associated Senior Research Scientist at the Centre Development Environment (CDE) of the University of Bern. He leads projects that focus on the interplay between language and perception, particularly in the context of landscapes and environmental understanding. His work is interdisciplinary, integrating linguistic approaches that stimulate reflection on how language shapes our understanding of the environment. Caviola has been involved in various international projects and has significant field experience in the USA and Great Britain. He communicates in multiple languages, including German, English, and French. His research interests include the dynamics of language in relation to landscape perception and interdisciplinary education in environmental studies.
