Dr. Hugo Larochelle

Biography

Hugo Larochelle is an Associate Professor at the University of Montreal, where he leads the Google Brain team in Montreal. His research focuses on the study and development of deep learning methods. Over the past decade, there has been significant progress in artificial neural networks and deep learning, which has been driven by advances in computer power, particularly through the use of GPUs, and the availability of open-source coding libraries. Larochelle has shared his insights on the capabilities of deep learning, particularly in relation to neural networks that are inspired by human brain computations. He holds a position as Chair in AI at CIFAR-Canada and is engaged in overseeing student dissertations and research projects related to neural networks and machine learning.
