Professor Dr. Hugo Tremblay

Biography

Hugo Tremblay holds an LL.D. from the University of Dundee, an LL.M. from Laval University, an LL.B. from the University of Montreal, and a B.A. from McGill University. He has extensive experience as a criminal attorney in Montreal and has focused on environmental law, particularly in managing groundwater in Québec. His research contributions include efforts to strengthen local authorities' capacities in water management, and he has worked with the World Water Council to develop international aid in this sector. Professor Tremblay completed his doctoral thesis on the protection of aquatic systems and the comparative analysis of national laws. He has held post-doctoral and other academic positions, managing various research projects related to environmental law and aquatic ecosystems. Alongside his teaching responsibilities, he supervises graduate theses and is involved in substantial research collaborations in public law, contributing significantly to legal frameworks around water law and sustainable resources management.
