Huina Mao received a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2012 and a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 2017. Her doctoral research involved small satellite projects funded by the European Union, specifically under the Small Explorer Advanced Missions (SEAM) project, which resulted in electromagnetically clean nanosatellites launched in Russia. These satellites featured precision attitude determination, autonomous data acquisition, high-bandwidth telemetry, and ground control systems. Following her Ph.D., she conducted postdoctoral research from 2017 to 2021, focusing on numerical modeling and the design of acoustic metamaterials, with an emphasis on finite element modeling, inverse estimation, machine learning, and 3D printing for applications requiring lightweight, high-stiffness, noise reduction. Dr. Mao has been involved in pioneering projects such as AERIALIST, funded by the European Commission, which developed metamaterials to reduce noise propagation in turbofan nacelles. She contributed significantly to inverse estimation methods for anisotropic acoustic metamaterials, enhancing the characterization of artificial porous materials. Currently, her research centers on metamaterial design, smart flexible materials, space robotics, and additive manufacturing. Dr. Mao has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Mechanics at KTH since 2022, and she actively participates in promoting collaboration through the KTH Industrial Transformation Platform.
