Biography

Hun-Seok Kim is the Samuel H. Fuller Early Career Professor and holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He completed his B.S. degree at Seoul National University in South Korea in 2001 and went on to earn his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His primary research interests include system analysis, novel algorithms, efficient VLSI architectures, low-power and high-performance wireless communication, signal processing, computer vision, and machine learning systems. Prior to joining the University of Michigan, he worked as a technical staff member at Texas Instruments from 2010 to 2014. Kim has served as an associate editor for notable journals including IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, and IEEE Solid-State Circuits Letters. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Young Faculty Award in 2018, the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2019, and the Sony Faculty Innovation Award in 2024.
