Biography

Hung Cao is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick. He is a founding member and director of the Analytics Lab (AELab), a multidisciplinary research group focused on critical thinking, excellence, and innovation to foster future digital transformation and solve societal challenges. Under his leadership, AELab is at the forefront of cutting-edge research, driving impactful collaborations with various partners including academia, industry, and government to advance the frontiers of AI, IoT, and edge computing. The lab has undertaken research projects in areas such as IoT, data science, and AI, collaborating with organizations like Cisco and NB Power to develop prototypes for industry applications. Dr. Cao obtained his Ph.D. in Geomatics Engineering, specializing in Data Science from the University of New Brunswick in 2020. He holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science from University College Dublin, Ireland, and a B.Eng. in Computer Engineering from VNUHCM-University of Information Technology, Vietnam. Before his current position, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow Data Scientist at the People Motion Lab at UNB, developing analytics frameworks for diverse IoT applications. He is currently involved as an Associate Editor for several journals and serves as a technical committee member for various conferences, emphasizing his active participation in the academic community.
