Hussam R. Ahmed is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Carleton University. His research focuses on social cultural history in the modern Middle East, exploring the ideas and institutions that have shaped modern Arab societies, particularly in terms of education, cultural production, and the press. He offers courses on topics such as anti-colonial movements, Arab intellectual traditions, and global South perspectives, with research projects examining journalism's role in shaping intellectual production in the postcolonial era.
