Biography

Hussein Warsame is a Professor in the Accounting Area at the Haskayne School of Business and a CPA Fellow in Taxation at the University of Calgary. He holds a BSc in Chemistry from Somali National University, an MBA with a concentration in accounting from California State University, and a PhD in Management with a major in accounting from the University of Calgary. Since joining the University of Calgary in 2000, he has taught various programs including MBA and Executive MBA courses, and he supervises PhD candidates specializing in accounting. Warsame's research focuses on taxation, financial accounting, and auditing, with numerous publications in well-regarded journals such as Accounting, Organization and Society and the Journal of American Taxation Association. He has received several awards for his teaching and research excellence, including the Dean's Award for PhD support and the Distinguished Research Award from the Academy of Accounting and Financial Studies. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor for Accounting Education – An International Journal and has contributed to editorial boards for various accounting journals.
