Biography

Hwi Choe is a PhD student in the Consumer Behavior & Family Economics program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison's School of Human Ecology. Her research is focused on consumer behavior particularly regarding food insecurity and its impact on health and well-being. With a strong interest in causal inference and experimental research, she employs a variety of quantitative methods to analyze the socio-economic mechanisms at play in food insecurity. By uncovering the influences on individuals and households, Hwi aims to propose policy solutions that contribute to alleviating poverty and food insecurity, ultimately fostering real-world social change. Hwi holds a master's degree in Consumer Science from Sungkyunkwan University and has published several studies on food insecurity and healthcare utilization. In her leisure time, she enjoys hiking, exploring new places on foot, and watching films.
