Biography

Hyebin Song is an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Penn State. He received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2020 and a BA in Applied Statistics from Yonsei University in 2012. His research focuses on developing statistical methods to overcome computational challenges faced in modern datasets, particularly those that are complex, large-scale, and high-dimensional. He is especially interested in creating statistical techniques that aid in the understanding of biological structures within data. Prior to joining Penn State as an Assistant Professor in 2020, Hyebin worked as a Statistician at the central bank of Korea. He has also been recognized for his contributions, winning the ASA SLDS Student Paper Competition in 2018.
