Biography

Hyeji Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. She obtained her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2016. Following her doctoral studies, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2016 to 2018 and later served as a researcher at Samsung AI Research in Cambridge in 2020. Her research interests lie at the intersection of information theory and machine learning, focusing on the application of information-theoretic principles to the development of machine learning algorithms. Currently, she is engaged in the development of communication codes, compression algorithms, and their integration with machine learning techniques. Hyeji was awarded the Stanford Graduate Fellowship and participated in the Rising Stars in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Workshop in 2015.
