Dr. Hylke Dijkstra

Biography

Hylke Dijkstra is a Full Professor of International Security Cooperation at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, where he specializes in global governance, multilateralism, and international organizations. His research primarily focuses on the impact of geopolitical tensions on international cooperation. Dijkstra coordinates the Horizon project ENSURED, which aims to transform global governance among EU member states. He is also the Director of the Research Programme 'Europe: Society, Politics Global Order' at Maastricht University and serves on the Standing Committee of the European Integration Advisory Council on International Affairs. Additionally, Dijkstra was the Programme Director for the MA in European Studies and has held editorial roles such as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Contemporary Security Policy. He is a recognized scholar, receiving six large EU grants, including the Principal Investigator role for the ERC research project on the decline of international organizations. His publications include significant contributions to the field, such as books and over 30 articles in academic journals. Dijkstra holds a PhD in Political Science from Maastricht University and has participated in several prestigious fellowships, including being a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Oxford.
