Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Hyung Yoo. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Hyung Suk Yoo pursued both MSc and PhD in Neuroscience at Carleton University, investigating the roles of growth factors in the survival and axon regeneration of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) using in vitro RGC culture systems and in vivo optic nerve crush models. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of neurodegeneration and neural repair in the central nervous system, particularly in the retina and optic nerve. Currently, he is investigating the role of granzyme B in neovascular age-related macular degeneration using mouse models along with laser-induced choroidal neovascularization and two-stage laser-induced subretinal fibrosis. His work aims to find therapeutic targets for preventing blindness, especially in age-related macular degeneration.
