Dr. I P L Png

Biography

I.P.L. Png is a Distinguished Professor at the National University of Singapore's (NUS) Business School. He is currently an NUS Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Study in Behavioral Sciences at Stanford. Png has a rich academic history, having been a faculty member at the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles from 1985 to 1996, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 1993 to 1996. He has also been a visiting professor at prestigious institutions such as the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and the Dyson School at Cornell University. Png obtained his first-class honours degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge in 1978 and completed his PhD at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1985. His research interests lie in economics, productivity, and innovation. He has worked on projects like the Service Productivity Innovation Research (SPIRE) funded by the Social Sciences Research Council in Singapore. Png's contributions to the field include the publication of 'Managerial Economics' in multiple editions, adapted into several languages. He is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, and enjoys leisure activities with his family.
