Dr. Iain Henry

Biography

Iain D. Henry is a Senior Lecturer at the Strategic Defence Studies Centre, Australian National University. He holds a PhD and a Master of Arts from the Australian National University, along with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales. He was a visiting Fulbright Scholar at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 2014. Henry has also graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy and has experience working with the Australian Army, Australian Public Service, and Qantas Airways. His research interests encompass alliance politics, domino theory, Asian security, Cold War Asia, and diplomatic history related to Australian strategic policy. He has published articles in notable journals such as International Security, Contemporary Politics, and the Australian Journal of International Affairs, and authored a book titled 'Reliability Alliance Interdependence: United States Allies Asia, 1949-1969,' which is part of the Cornell Studies in Security Affairs series published in 2022. Henry encourages prospective Honours, Masters, and PhD students to apply for supervision in topics related to his research interests.
