Biography

Iain Kirkpatrick completed his medical degree and residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Manitoba. He also completed a fellowship in abdominal radiology at Stanford University, where he received training in cardiovascular CT and MRI. After returning to the University of Manitoba, he has remained a faculty member while also serving as an adjunct clinical instructor at Stanford since 2012. His clinical practice involves abdominal and cardiovascular radiology, and he has developed provincial programs in cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, prostate MRI, and CT colonography. He served as the section head of abdominal radiology and is the director of computed tomography and interventional radiology at St-Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg. His research interests include clinical research related to cardiac and renal CT/MR and the development of national clinical practice guidelines in affiliation with the Canadian Association of Radiology. Kirkpatrick has authored numerous papers focusing on CT bowel issues and the innovative use of multiphasic CT scanning for the diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia.
