Iain Pirie received his PhD from the University of Manchester in April 2004. He completed his thesis while employed as an ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Manchester in September 2004. He spent the 2004-2005 academic session as a Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University before joining the University of Warwick in July 2005. Iain is currently the convenor for the third-year module 'Politics of Globalisation' and teaches the MA module 'Globalisation, Governance and Development'. His research interests focus on the structural changes in the global economy, particularly how the transition from Fordism to Post-Fordism has impacted national state forms and social life. These interests are reflected in four articles and a monograph on Korean political economy published between 2005 and 2007. Iain has given presentations on these topics, including at Chatham House’s Korean Discussion Group in 2006. His current work examines the impact of structural changes on specific national social formations, alongside broader aspects of social life within the core capitalist world. He aims to critique Neo-Listian development theory and develop a Marxist political economy perspective on Bulimia Nervosa. Iain has also acted as a referee for several academic journals, including the American Journal of Sociology and Globalizations.
Includes General, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Biomedical, and Manufacturing Engineering. Most programs fall under English Band A.
