Dr. Ian Britton

Biography

Dr. Ian Britton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen's University. He completed his undergraduate education in Mechanical Engineering at Queen's University from 2001 to 2005, followed by a Master of Applied Sciences in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Ottawa-Carleton Institute in 2008. Subsequently, Dr. Britton undertook his medical training at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, finishing in 2012. Between 2012 and 2018, he completed postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in Adult Cardiology at the University of Toronto. He further enhanced his expertise by completing a fellowship in Advanced Echocardiography at the University Health Network in Toronto. Dr. Britton continued to advance his training by undertaking an additional fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Calgary from 2019 to 2021, where he received a teaching award for his contributions to the cardiology training program. His main clinical interests lie in Interventional Cardiology, particularly in intracoronary imaging for the diagnosis and management optimization of percutaneous coronary interventions. He also has interests in cardiac critical care and echocardiographic evaluation of structural heart interventions, alongside a passion for medical education.
