Biography

Ian Butler is a Senior Research Fellow in Experimental Geosciences at the University of Edinburgh. As a geochemist, he develops laboratory experiments to replicate and quantify Earth processes. His research interests include metal sulfide chemistry in aqueous, anoxic environments, kinetics and mechanisms of geochemical reactions, and stable isotope geochemistry related to economic mineralization.
