Biography

Ian Goode is a Senior Lecturer in Theatre, Film & Television Studies at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on contemporary Scottish and British film and television, particularly the representations of the past and auto/biographical representation. Goode explores developments in non-fiction and documentary television, examining debates surrounding self-presentation and cultural value, as well as the relationship between national culture and film and television institutions. His interests also extend to film exhibition in non-theatrical and makeshift spaces, and he investigates the idea of rural cinema in relation to developments in film and cinema history. A significant aspect of his current research includes a project aimed at mapping the history and reception geography of cinema in rural Scotland.
