Dr. Ian Hutchins

Biography

Ian Hutchins is an Assistant Professor at the Information School of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and a B.S. in Genetics, both obtained from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on Scientific Portfolio Analysis, Bibliometrics, and Science-of-Science Methods. He employs various methodologies including Machine Learning, Network Analysis, and Natural Language Processing. His areas of interest encompass Scientific Advance, Bench-to-Bedside Translation, and Science Policy. Ian teaches several courses such as Data Mining, Introductory Analytics Decision Making, and Data Algorithms: Ethics Policy. His diverse academic background and ongoing research contribute to the understanding of how scientific advancements can be effectively measured and optimized.
