Dr. Ian Krout

Biography

Ian Krout is an academic professional and Director of Career Professional Development at the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program at Georgia Institute of Technology. He teaches various introductory and upper-level neuroscience courses, including "Principles of Neuroscience" and "Neural Systems, Networks, and Behavior." His previous experience includes a fellowship at Emory University where he focused on the role of the gut microbiome in mediating toxicity responses to pesticide exposure, and he has contributed to CURE laboratories at Morehouse College. Ian's research interests are centered on the gut-brain axis, exploring how the gut microbiome influences neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative diseases. He is also dedicated to supporting students in their career planning, networking, and securing internships and research positions through one-on-one advising and program-wide workshops.
