Biography

Ian Mackenzie joined Imperial College Business School Faculty in September 2015 as a Senior Executive Fellow. He teaches strategy in the Masters Programs and contributes to the development of the school's Executive Education activities. Dr. Mackenzie's career spans management consulting, entrepreneurial management, and academia. He served as a consultant manager at the Boston Consulting Group from 1979 to 1986, followed by a role as Senior Partner and Head of the European Securities Industry Practice and Head of the European Strategy Practice at the Mitchell Madison Group from 1996 to 2001. He was a Director in charge of Financial Services at OC&C Strategy Consultants from 2001 to 2004 and was the Chief Executive of Think Play Group, an innovation management consultancy, from 2005 to 2011. Additionally, he spent seven years as Managing Director (Europe) at Thomson Financial from 1986 to 1993, during which time he grew the business and started six business lines. Ian also engaged in supporting business development in the Asia-Pacific region and later led a European start-up in the environmental testing industry from 1993 to 1996. In the academic realm, Dr. Mackenzie was a Visiting Fellow at Imperial College Business School from 2005 to 2011, where he taught strategy and organization innovation management at the executive level and designed and directed Executive Education programs.
