Ian Radcliffe is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London. He holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Bioengineering Science from the University of Southampton, which he completed in 2007. Before joining Imperial in January 2014, Ian worked as a consultant engineer, leading a consultancy based in Cambridge. At Imperial, he undertakes various teaching responsibilities and supports admissions outreach for the Department of Bioengineering. He is the Module Leader for the second-year Biomedical Engineering undergraduate Engineering Design Project module and provides input on design teaching across the curriculum. Ian is also involved in the admissions for undergraduate and postgraduate programs and engages in departmental outreach activities aimed at enhancing student intake and raising awareness of bioengineering. His research interests focus on disability and rehabilitation aids, prosthetics, and adaptive technology as well as frugal technology. Ian is also the Project Manager for the Sports Innovation Challenge, where he coordinates student projects in collaboration with industry partners and charities, including supporting Team GB Paralympians for the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
