Biography

Dr. Rakita joined the Department of Finance in 1993 and has extensive industry experience. He spent 1997-1998 teaching at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, where he received commendation for teaching excellence. His research interests include market microstructure, new secondary equity offerings, and resolving capital rationing problems under uncertainty. Dr. Rakita has published articles in reputable journals such as Multinational Finance, Engineering Economist, and the Canadian Investment Review Journal of the Operational Research Society. He has also presented papers at conferences organized by the Financial Management Association, Multinational Finance, Northern Finance Association, and the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, where he won an award for his paper. He is a two-time winner of the Gold Prize for outstanding papers awarded in an annual contest sponsored by the Montreal Society of Financial Analysts. Dr. Rakita completed the requirements for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2001.
