Biography

Ian Reddin obtained his PhD in Computational Biology from the University of Kent in 2020, after achieving a First-Class BSc in Biomedical Science. He has held postdoctoral positions in both Kent and Southampton and was appointed as a Research Fellow in the School of Cancer Sciences in 2022. In 2024, he established and became the Manager of Bio-R, a dedicated bioinformatics research facility that provides specialist support to various research groups within the Faculty of Medicine and beyond. His work applies computational statistical approaches to large-scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets, with a particular emphasis on cancer biology. Reddin's expertise spans whole-genome sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics. He collaborates extensively with clinical and basic science groups to advance the understanding of cancer development, heterogeneity, and therapeutic response. He is an active member of multiple faculty cross-institutional research committees and received recognition for his contributions to cancer genomics with the Poster Award at the 2022 Genomics England Research Summit.
