Biography

Ian Robinson is a Continuing Adjunct Assistant Professor and the Graduate Chair in the Department of Film and Media at Queen's University. He completed his PhD at York University and has conducted postdoctoral work at McGill University. Before joining Queen's, he held a visiting position at the University of Bonn. Robinson is currently co-editing a volume on film, performance, and intermediality, which is set to be published in 2021. His research interests include geographical approaches to film media, focusing particularly on cinema urbanism. He is also developing a book project that integrates geography and film theory to examine how contemporary filmmakers and artists respond to the forces of globalization and localization. In his role, he is particularly interested in supervising projects related to Canadian film and television, as well as theories and histories of intermediality, liveness, and performance, alongside national cinemas and the geographies of film media.
