Dr. Ian Roxan

Biography

Ian Roxan is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the London School of Economics. He holds a BA from the University of Toronto, an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a PhD from Cambridge University. He began his career in Toronto practicing trust and tax law before working with the Canadian Department of Finance, where he was involved in developing tax policy. Roxan has specialized in international and European tax planning, value-added tax, and corporate law. He has participated in tax reform projects in developing countries in Africa and Asia with institutions such as the World Bank and Harvard Law School's International Tax Program. His work has earned recognition, including the Wedderburn Prize for his article 'Assuring Real Freedom Movement Direct Taxation' published in the Modern Law Review. His research interests include international taxation, the implications of taxation in development, European taxation, and tax avoidance in relation to developing tax systems.
