Ian Underwood has conducted pioneering research in the field of liquid crystal microdisplays from 1983 to 1999. Underwood's leadership as Product Development Director and Strategic Marketing CTO saw MED achieve notable distinctions including a Guinness World Record for the world's smallest color TV screen and several innovation awards. In 2005, he was appointed Chair of Electronic Displays at the University of Edinburgh. His recent recognitions include being named Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year in Scotland in 2003 and serving as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
