Biography

Ibere Alves is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Tulsa University in 1991, following an M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the Federal University of Ouro Preto in 1987 and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 1979. His research interests include gas oil production phase flow modeling, artificial lift, flow assurance, intelligent fields, and deep water petroleum production. He has significant industry experience, having worked as a Senior Petroleum Engineering Consultant at Petrobras America Inc. from 2012 to 2014, and held various roles at Petrobras, including Senior Petroleum Engineer, Manager of Technical Support, and Production Engineer. Alves has received several awards for his teaching excellence at Texas A&M University, including the Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching at both university and college levels, the Instructional Faculty Teaching Award, and the Professor Year Award from the Society of Petroleum Engineers Student Chapter.
