Ibrahim Sabek is an Assistant Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science and holds a courtesy position at the Dornsife Spatial Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California. He leads the Next-generation Data-Intensive Systems Group (NexDIG). Before joining USC, he was a Postdoctoral Associate in the Data Systems Group at MIT CSAIL and was a National Science Foundation/Computing Research Association Computing Innovation Fellow from 2020 to 2023. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in January 2020, where his dissertation received a University-wide Doctoral Dissertation Honorable Mention. Sabek's research interests include building next-generation data management, processing, and analysis systems using machine learning and quantum computing. His research focuses on understanding fundamental techniques in these areas, leading to new algorithm designs and data structures for data-intensive systems applications. His work broadly encompasses data management in machine learning systems, scalable knowledge base construction, big spatial data management and analysis, and video analytics.
