Ida Nielsen Sølvhøj is a Postdoctoral researcher in Anthropology at the University of Southern Denmark. Her research focuses on intimate partner violence, particularly the psychological aspect of violence in intimate relationships. Employing an ethnographic approach, she combines participant observation and qualitative interviews to explore both the interpersonal and structural dimensions of violence. Her work aims to investigate the lived experiences of those affected by violence and the professional practices and institutional frameworks that contribute to public narratives surrounding psychological violence. Furthermore, she is particularly interested in the dynamics that make certain experiences of violence 'real' and 'recognizable' while potentially obscuring others. Ida is also an active member of the early-career researcher network on Violence and Gender, which connects young scholars across Danish universities to engage with topics related to gender-based violence, domestic violence, and stalking. In addition to her primary research, she has also been involved in projects focused on youth mental health and the coherence of psychiatric care systems.
