Idris Guessous is a Full Professor at the University of Geneva (UNIGE) Faculty of Medicine, specializing in Community Health and Medicine. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Lausanne in 2001 and further trained in clinical epidemiology. He holds an MD specialization in general internal medicine from Lausanne/Geneva and completed a PhD in epidemiology at Emory University, USA. His research focuses on the genetic and environmental determinants of health, and he actively participates in national and international population-based studies. Notable projects include Pro-HUG, @choum, SeroCov, and SPECCHIO RAFAEL. Guessous is the principal investigator in the European multi-centre clinical trial GNC-501, which evaluates treatment efficacy for individuals affected by post-Covid syndrome. He has held leadership roles within the Swiss Society of General Internal Medicine and has editorial responsibilities with Swiss Medical Weekly and Swiss Medical Forum. He was appointed Vice-Dean for postgraduate and continuing education at UNIGE in July 2023.
