Biography

Ife Vanable is an architect, historian, and theorist who directs i/van/able, an architectural workshop think tank based in Bristol, Connecticut, with roots in the Bronx, New York. Their work challenges prevailing notions of type, taste, and form through theoretical, speculative, and physical interventions. Ife's contributions have been recognized by the New York State Council on the Arts and awarded by the New York Foundation for the Arts. They exhibited at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale. Ife holds professional and post-professional degrees in architecture from Cornell and Princeton Universities and has also studied at the Architectural Association in London and Ardhi University in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Ife has received numerous accolades, including the History Theory Prize from Princeton University and the Buell Center Fellowship from Columbia University.
