Biography

Ignacio Serrano van der Schraft is a PhD student and Research Assistant focusing on Renewable Power Grids at the EPICS Centre (Electric Power Innovation for a Carbon-Free Society) within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London. He completed an MSc with distinction in Future Power Networks from Imperial College London in 2024 and holds a BSc and MSc from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, awarded in 2021 and 2023 respectively. His research interests lie in the integration of distributed energy resources and demand-side flexibility within power systems. Currently, his research focuses on resource adequacy and capacity contribution of demand-side flexibility. Prior to his PhD, Ignacio worked as a Research Development Engineer at Vinken in Santiago, Chile from October 2022 to August 2023. He combines his knowledge in electrical engineering with a strong interest in advancing innovative solutions for sustainable energy systems.
