Biography

Igor R. Klebanov is the Eugene Higgins Professor of Physics and the director of the Princeton Center for Theoretical Science at Princeton University. He earned his Ph.D. in theoretical high-energy physics from Princeton University in 1986 and completed post-doctoral work at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center in 1989 before joining the faculty at Princeton. His research interests encompass quantum field theories and their dual descriptions involving higher-dimensional theories, including gravity and the Anti-de Sitter/Conformal Field Theory correspondence. Additionally, Klebanov is focused on the physics of strong nuclear interactions and serves as the director of the Simons Collaboration on Confinement in Quantum Chromodynamics and String Theory. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the 2022 Oskar Klein Memorial Lecture Medal from Stockholm University and the 2023 Dirac Medal from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy. Klebanov is also a member of the United States National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
