Biography

Igor Pilshchikov is a Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. His academic focus is on General Linguistics and Literary Theory, with a particular interest in the interrelations between Russian and Western European cultures. He obtained his Doctorate in Philology from the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. During his time there, he focused on various topics, including interlingual intertextuality, Russian poetry from the 18th and 19th centuries, and translation theory. His significant contributions to the field include several edited volumes and papers on Russian Formalism and Cultural Semiotics. Notably, he co-edited "Contemporary Quantitative Formalism" and has contributed extensively to the discourse on literary theory through his works on structuralism and post-structuralism. His past educational background includes a tenure at Lomonosov Moscow State University and the University of Tartu, where he explored Russian literature and its theoretical frameworks.
