Biography

Igor Almeida Rodrigues is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia. He completed his undergraduate degree in Nutrition at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2003, followed by a Master’s degree in 2006 and a PhD in Food Science in 2010 from the Graduate Program of Food Science at the Institute of Chemistry, UFRJ. Igor completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Paulo de Góes Institute of Microbiology, UFRJ in 2013. He served as an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and was the head of the Department of Natural Products and Foods from 2015 to 2021. Igor has contributed to the Brazilian Society of Food Science and Technology as the Director of Industrial Relations since 2021. He is recognized as a Young Scientist by FAPERJ from 2018 onwards. His research expertise includes Natural Products and Foods, focusing on the biological activity in cellular models related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He has also coordinated several academic courses and projects related to food science and microbiology.
