Igor Siretanu is an Assistant Professor in the Physics Complex Fluids Group at the University of Twente, specializing in the multidisciplinary study of solid-liquid interfacial phenomena. His research focuses on functionalizing surfaces at microscopic scales to control macroscopic behaviors such as wetting, adsorption/desorption, and colloidal interactions. He is particularly passionate about atomic force microscopy (AFM) and the development of in situ operando microscopy methods for quantifying nanoscale surface properties. Siretanu's work includes direct measurement of surface forces and an exploration of their implications for stability and reactivity in materials for applications in electrocatalysis, energy conversion, and environmental technologies. He completed his bachelor's degree in theoretical physics at Moldova State University and earned a master’s degree in Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy in 2007. He obtained his PhD in polymer physics from Université Bordeaux 1 in 2011, focusing on the dynamics of polymer films. Since joining the University of Twente in 2012, he has developed techniques for quantifying nanoscale properties of solid-liquid interfaces, and has been actively involved in various academic programs.
