Igor Zozoulenko graduated from Kiev State University in 1983 with a degree in General Physics and earned his Ph.D. at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, National Academy of Sciences Ukraine in 1988. His doctoral research focused on the theoretical study of excitation energy transfer in molecular systems of polymers. Following his Ph.D., he worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Theoretical Physics before joining the Norwegian Institute of Technology as a postdoctoral fellow in 1993, where he worked on quantum transport in semiconductor nanostructures. In 1995, Zozoulenko was awarded a fellowship by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and spent years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Theory Modelling Division, Department of Physics at Linköping University. He became an associate professor in the Department of Science and Technology at the Norrköping campus in 1999 and was appointed professor in 2008. His research primarily focuses on the electronic transport properties of low-dimensional semiconductor structures and functional plasmonic photonic devices. In 2013, he joined the Laboratory of Organic Electronics, where he leads the Theory Modelling group. His recent research includes the simulation and modeling of electronic and ionic transport in conducting polymers, investigating electronic properties, studying redox electrochemistry, and researching photonics in cellulose-based materials, among other projects. He also teaches extensively, having served as course leader for multiple undergraduate and Ph.D.-level courses.
