Biography

Ilan Adler is a Chancellor's Professor in the Department of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He joined the faculty in 1970 and served as department chair in various capacities from 2003 to 2008. He received his B.A. in Economics and Statistics from the Hebrew University of Israel in 1966, followed by an M.Sc. in Operations Research from Technion Israel in 1967, and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Stanford University in 1970. Professor Adler has also held a position as an affiliated professor at Tsinghua University from 2016 to 2020 and is a faculty member of the Tsinghua-Berkeley-Shenzhen Institute (TBSI). His research focuses on Interior Point Algorithms, Linear and Convex Programming Models, Combinatorial and Geometrical Approaches, and Mathematical Programming. In addition, he explores topics in computer-aided scheduling, routing, and probabilistic analysis. His dedication to the field underlines his contributions to mathematical programming and computational game theory.
