Biography

Ilaria Malanchi is a Principal Group Leader at the Francis Crick Institute, where she leads the Tumour-Host Interaction Laboratory. She obtained her Master's degree from the University of Siena and later earned her PhD from Heidelberg University, Germany, working in the laboratory of Dr. Tommasino at the DKFZ. Ilaria has a long-standing interest in complex cancer cellular interactions and began her postdoctoral work in the newly opened laboratory of Joerg Huelsken at ISREC, Lausanne, Switzerland. During her years as a postdoc, she investigated the importance of the tumour microenvironment in metastatic progression. In 2011, she established her laboratory at Cancer Research UK London Research Institute, which is now part of the Francis Crick Institute. In recognition of her contributions to cancer research, Ilaria was awarded tenure and promoted to Senior Group Leader in 2018.
