Dr. Ilgin Guler

Biography

Ilgin Guler is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Penn State University. He has an extensive educational background with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Bogazici University, along with a Master's and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. His professional interests focus on transportation engineering, particularly in multi-modal urban transportation, public transportation, safety, statistical modeling, and infrastructure management. He has published numerous journal articles on topics related to traffic dynamics, transportation systems optimization, and accident analysis, contributing greatly to the advancement of knowledge in his field. Additionally, Dr. Guler has received the New Faculty Award from the Council of University Transportation Centers in 2020, recognizing his impactful work in civil and environmental engineering through research and education. His service includes contributions to various external organizations and educational initiatives.
