Dr. Ilias Siempos

Biography

Ilias Siempos is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Medicine with a focus on Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine. His academic journey began as a clinician-scientist after obtaining his M.D. from the University of Thessaloniki-Medical School in Greece, graduating in the top 1% of his class. He acquired his doctorate in Critical Care Medicine from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, where his dedication to the field earned him several national scholarships. After his medical education, he trained in the Department of Critical Care and Pulmonary Services at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens before moving to the United States to further his career, initially at Harvard Medical School and later at Weill Cornell Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow under Dr. Augustine Choi. Currently, he maintains his affiliation with Weill Cornell Medicine while being awarded a prestigious grant from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation. Dr. Siempos has a notable publication record with 95 peer-reviewed papers, and his research interests include understanding complex clinical conditions such as acute respiratory distress syndrome and associated complications. His translational research endeavors focus on improving clinical outcomes and exploring innovative methodologies in critical care medicine.
